Well, I thought the Hornady is producing uniform bullets. First mistake. I used the Reload Swiss RS60 powder (a.k.a. Reloader 17, the magic pulver), which is a bit more temp sensitive type of powder. So, the load which worked perfect on my range at home didn't worked so great at the competition. I had good wind reading but the load performed poorly. At 300 meters barely 0,5MOA (c'mon man, the guys there are shooting scores 99-100/100, it means all ten shots in the middle of the bullseye), at 600 meters I shot a little bit under 1 MOA which is K.O. result. 800 meters... maybe the shotgun would be more appropriate.
I used my beloved 7mm-08 Rem. with HDY A-Max 162grs. and the RS60 powder.

This time I'll probably go with my trusty 6,5x47 Lapua. My plane was to take the 300 WinMag but my gunsmith is very busy and I need new barrel. So I do not think I can make the 300WM ready until the LongShot. Will see...

There is usually training day on Friday. All squads shoot on 300 meters, then on 600 and 800 meters. 10 or 15 minutes and you can shoot as many rounds as you want. After each round they bring your paper target to you for check. This takes usually all the day because there are/was almost 400 competitors. So you have to bring a solid seat and big powerbank for your phone/tablet.
Competition goes the same way. All competitors shoot the 300 meters targets, then all shoot 600 meters and so on. The extra range (1000+ meters) will be shot on Sunday morning, it goes fairly fast because not everyone is shooting this target.
Inbetween you will have a plenty of time to buy some equipment, eat good food, sleep, talk with new people - that's why I like the LongShot. 8-)
